Pay Rate: $48.00–$57.28/hour
Duration: 6-Month Contract with Potential Extension
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
The Biologist will join the Cardiometabolic Research team and support drug discovery and early-stage clinical research focused on diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, and related metabolic disorders.
This position will primarily support next-generation sequencing initiatives, including RNA-seq, single-cell RNA-seq, single-nucleus RNA-seq, and other sequencing library preparation workflows. The role will collaborate across multiple research groups and therapeutic areas to support molecular biology, assay development, target identification, and data generation.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in biological sciences, biochemical sciences, or a related field.
- 2 years of laboratory research experience.
- Strong hands-on molecular biology experience, including nucleic acid extraction and purification, quantification, NGS library preparation, quality control, and qPCR.
- Strong knowledge of next-generation sequencing technologies and applications, preferably including Illumina platforms.
- Direct experience with bulk RNA-seq and amplicon sequencing.
- Direct experience preparing single-cell RNA-seq and single-nucleus RNA-seq libraries.
- Experience with multiple scRNA-seq/snRNA-seq platforms, such as 10x Genomics Chromium, Illumina PIP-seq, Scale Bio, or Parse Biosciences.
- Strong organizational, time-management, documentation, and communication skills.
- Experience documenting laboratory activities in electronic laboratory notebook systems.
- Experience with CRISPR-based gene editing and high-throughput screening.
- Experience with laboratory automation systems, such as Mantis, Integra, liquid handlers, SPT Labtech Firefly, or Tecan.
- Perform RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, snRNA-seq, and other next-generation sequencing library preparation workflows.
- Conduct molecular and cell biology experiments supporting drug discovery programs.
- Design and execute experiments to identify and validate potential drug targets.
- Support assay development, optimization, and validation.
- Perform nucleic acid extraction, purification, quantification, library preparation, and quality-control testing.
- Troubleshoot experimental workflows and analyze complex laboratory data.
- Support sequencing data generation and quality-control activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional research teams across multiple therapeutic areas.
- Maintain accurate and detailed experimental documentation.
- Present experimental results, findings, and conclusions through written reports and verbal presentations.
