Research Reagent Specialist - Boston, MA
The BD Biosciences Research Reagent Specialist (RRS) is responsible for maintaining and growing the research reagent portfolio in the Academic space. Field based position.
Role OverviewLeverage your scientific expertise and consultative sales skills to drive growth of BD Biosciences research reagents within the Academic and Government sectors. Make a meaningful impact in the scientific community by working with cutting‑edge products that enable groundbreaking research.
As an RRS, you will play a key role in expanding our customer base, developing strategic account relationships, and increasing revenue in your assigned territory. Your primary focus will be on acquiring new customers, converting competitive accounts, and fostering long‑term partnerships. Working closely with your local area team and product specialists, you will craft innovative business solutions that delight customers. Success means achieving consistent territory growth and exceeding sales objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Drive Business Growth:
Expand the research reagent portfolio by acquiring new customers and increasing product adoption within your territory. - Forecast & Plan:
Utilize business tools, such as Salesforce, to accurately forecast monthly sales for key accounts and overall territory performance. - Collaborate with Distributors:
Build and maintain strong distribution relationships through active communication, joint field visits, and shared strategies. - Pipeline Development:
Establish and sustain a robust short‑ and long‑term sales strategy to ensure consistent revenue growth. - Team
Collaboration:
Partner with BD Biosciences colleagues across Sales, Service, and Applications Support to deliver customer‑focused solutions. - Adapt & Execute:
Perform additional duties and assignments as business needs evolve.
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field and at least 3–5 years of sales experience.
- Laboratory experience, highly preferred in flow cytometry.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Ability to travel a minimum of 50% of the time.
- Strong presentation, training, and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency with digital tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Salesforce).
- BS Degree in Biology, Immunology or other Medical/Life Sciences‑related field. Advanced degrees welcome.
- Familiarity with Life Science Research and Pharma/Biotech/Academic accounts.
- Ability to adapt to changing business environment and continually meet customer needs.
