The primary function of the Area Manager will be to grow the territory, win new business, strengthen existing partnerships and ultimately grow the region to the point of justifying a dedicated sales team.
EssentialJob Responsibilities
- Lead business development activities in assigned geographic area
- Sell and service key accounts
- Generate value by sharing ideas and identifying long‑term opportunities to grow our organization in numerous ways
- Develop a business plan and sales strategy for the region that ensures attainment of Company sales goals and profitability
- Assist in the development and implementation of marketing plans as needed
- Provide timely feedback to senior management regarding performance
- Create and conduct proposal presentations and RFP responses
- Control expenses to meet company guidelines
- Adhere to all Company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensure that they are communicated and implemented within the team
- Adhere to and support all safety policies and guidelines
- Perform other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Four (4) years of experience in technical sales and service in industrial water treatment or specialty chemicals industry
- Two (2) years of team leadership experience
- Working knowledge of cooling tower systems, steam generation, and chilled/hot/process water closed‑loop systems
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and ability to learn internal business systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong business development and relationship‑building skills
- Mechanical/technical aptitude
- Ability to work independently and without supervision; effectively plan, organize and execute activities
- Valid driver's license and adherence to Company standards for operating motor vehicle
- Ability and willingness to physically provide service at customer facilities within a wide range of environments
- Ability and willingness to be away from home for overnight travel 3‑4 nights/month
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- Four (4)+ years of experience in technical sales and service in industrial water treatment or specialty chemical industry
- Two (2)+ years of team leadership experience
- Proven history of achieving and exceeding sales goals consistently
