The title Automobile Mechanic designates employees engaged in the servicing, repairing, reconditioning, fitting, and maintaining of automotive and trailer type vehicles, and associated construction and maintenance equipment.

• Under close supervision, assists employees of higher rating.
• Performs work under directive supervision in the shop and under general supervision in the field.
• Directs and instructs employees of lower rating.

• Ability to perform physical work under a wide variety of working conditions and on shifts during hours other than normal and at times for extended periods.
• Must have working knowledge of the principles, functions, operation and care of internal combustion engines/diesel engines and a basic knowledge of the repair and maintenance of automotive equipment normally gained in two years’ experience.
• CDL Driver’s License preferred. Must obtain a CDL Class A Driver’s License within six months of becoming a Grade

STARTING RATE OF PAY: $45.88, $47.69 Hourly
