Position SummaryThe Awake Overnight Residential Counselor ensures the safety, well-being, and positive environment for youth and young adults during overnight shifts in a residential program. This role requires remaining awake and alert throughout the shift while providing support and guidance to residents.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and monitor youth overnight, ensuring safety and adherence to program guidelines.
- Provide advocacy, referrals, crisis intervention, and supportive counseling as needed.
- Orient new residents to program rules and expectations.
- Assist residents in developing life skills, including cooking, socialization, and independent living preparation.
- Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with staff.
- Participate in staff meetings and contribute to a culturally sensitive environment.
- Serve as a liaison between the program and community resources.
- Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with adolescents or young adults.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience with homelessness, substance abuse, or related issues preferred.
- Effective communication and crisis management skills.
