Position Summary

The Awake Overnight Residential Counselor ensures the safety, well-being, and positive environment for youth and young adults during overnight shifts in a residential program. This role requires remaining awake and alert throughout the shift while providing support and guidance to residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and monitor youth overnight, ensuring safety and adherence to program guidelines.
  • Provide advocacy, referrals, crisis intervention, and supportive counseling as needed.
  • Orient new residents to program rules and expectations.
  • Assist residents in developing life skills, including cooking, socialization, and independent living preparation.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with staff.
  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to a culturally sensitive environment.
  • Serve as a liaison between the program and community resources.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with adolescents or young adults.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience with homelessness, substance abuse, or related issues preferred.
  • Effective communication and crisis management skills.
