At Jet Brains, we develop the foundational pieces of the Kotlin Ecosystem, including the Kotlin language itself
. Targeting the JVM, JS, Wasm, and native platforms and used for Android, iOS, web, and backend development, Kotlin is one of the fastest-growing programming languages.

However, even with its rich standard library, frameworks, and modern language, the Kotlin Ecosystem needs great storytelling:

  • How would you market Kotlin to the world?
  • How would you help the community grow and build the libraries it needs?
  • How would you show enterprises and indie developers that Kotlin works seamlessly with Java – and alongside Swift?

We’d love to hear how you’d answer those questions!

As the Head of Marketing for the Kotlin Ecosystem
, you would define and spread the core value proposition for a unique technical product:
Kotlin. You would create the marketing strategy and lead the Marketing teams to make Kotlin the most popular programming ecosystem. You would drive awareness, adoption, and growth of the Kotlin Ecosystem.

We’d like to be in the same boat, whether it’s marketing, development, or product management—speaking the same language, being part of the same ecosystem, and caring about similar things.
We expect you to be able to write a program in Kotlin, Java, or any programming language. Overall, you’ll work closely with Kotlin Product Management and engineers building the technology.

In this role, you will:
  • Define the brand identity and positioning of the Kotlin Ecosystem.
  • Define the core value proposition and storytelling about Kotlin, Kotlin Multiplatform, Ktor, Amper, Compose Multiplatform, and other technologies in the Kotlin Ecosystem.
  • Conduct in-depth market research to analyze trends, user needs, and the competitive landscape, and identify opportunities for Kotlin’s growth.
  • Develop and execute the marketing strategy to drive awareness, growth, and market penetration for Kotlin and related products.
  • Use data-driven insights to refine the marketing strategy and optimize campaigns.
  • Manage the planning, development, and execution of integrated marketing campaigns across multiple channels, including digital, content marketing, influencer marketing, events, and PR.
  • Oversee the creation of high-quality content, including case studies, blog posts, videos, and presentations.
  • Lead marketing launch initiatives, coordinating with product management, technical writing, developer advocacy, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Grow, lead, and inspire the marketing team.
  • Team up with developers on conferences, write funny comments on social media, and pop up in You Tube shorts in your friends’ feeds. But only if you want to!
We’ll be happy to have you on our team if you have:
  • Developer background in any programming language.
  • A few years of experience in marketing leadership within developer tools, open-source software, or technology ecosystems.
  • Understanding of modern programming ecosystems, their benefits, and their target usages.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Experience with B2B and B2C marketing, product marketing, and brand management.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive results and achieve marketing goals.
  • An analytical mindset with the ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent storytelling skills – especially when translating technical benefits into audience-specific messages.
We’d be especially thrilled if you have:
  • Experience with the marketing of networked products – including experience with viral loops and acquisition effects.
  • Knowledge of how to steer and amplify community effects.
  • Experience with marketing developer tools.
