Position Summary

We’re seeking a Software Technical Program Manager (TPM) who will be responsible for the development, verification, and maintenance of critical software systems that operate a key spacecraft component. You will oversee all aspects of the flight software development lifecycle from requirements gathering to launch and mission operations, ensuring the software meets stringent quality standards and reliability requirements within tight timelines and budget constraints.

You will work in a highly collaborative environment across multiple sub‑contractors and disciplines.

The position is full‑time, remote or onsite in Boston, MA, and available to be filled immediately.

Responsibilities
  • Code Development: Writing flight and ground software using multiple languages and tools.
  • Debugging, testing, and deploying: Flight and ground software.
  • Technical Leadership: Responsibility for the overall flight and ground software system architecture, including software components and interfaces.
  • Leadership and oversight of the design, development, and implementation of complex real‑time embedded software for spacecraft systems in conjunction with subcontractors.
  • Overseeing code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
  • Requirements Management: Decomposition of system requirements and translation into detailed software requirements specifications; managing requirement traceability throughout the development process.
  • Verification and Validation: Oversight of the development of comprehensive test plans and procedures; execution of software tests in simulated environments and on hardware; analysis of test results, identifying and resolving defects.
  • Mission Operations Support: Collaboration with mission operations teams to ensure seamless integration of flight software with ground systems; providing support for flight software updates and anomaly resolution during mission operations.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
  • 10 years software development experience.
  • Strong coding ability in multiple software languages.
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems programming, real‑time operating systems (RTOS), and software design principles.
  • Experience in relevant programming languages with proficiency in software development tools and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of space industry standards, protocols, and constraints related to flight software development.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills with a strong focus on quality and reliability.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross‑functional teams across engineering disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in computer science or related field.
  • 15+ years of software development experience.
