Job Description

CD PROJEKT RED is looking for an experienced, passionate, and talented Senior Encounter Designer to join our Cyberpunk 2 development team. This person will take ownership of working directly with the Lead Encounter Designer and cross-discipline team members to help formulate solutions for and help create memorable gameplay encounters that will thrill and excite our players.

Daily responsibilities

  • Work with the Lead Encounter Designer, Quest, Open World, Level Design, Environment, and Gameplay teams to design memorable combat encounters based on predefined narrative, environmental, and gameplay themes.
  • Adjust predefined quests and locations by utilizing NPC setups, interactive objects, loot, and environment to create a challenging play through with multiple solutions.
  • Work with Level Designers and Environmental Artists to ensure level geometry serves the needs of combat encounters.
  • Mentor and guide junior encounter designers.
  • Dedicate yourself to understanding all player verbs, allowing yourself to craft divergent experiences that cater to all available play styles.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of games industry experience in a developer role.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Unreal or similar development toolset.
  • Experience working with Blueprints or similar visual scripting languages.
  • Experience designing and spearheading development of both bespoke and systemic combat encounters.
  • Both analytic and creative thinking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design ideas and concepts verbally or with robust documentation.
  • Passion for role‑playing games and shooters with a clear idea of what makes for a great encounter in those genres.

Estimated pay range for this position: $101,200 - $168,300 USD annually

At CD PROJEKT RED compensation for our roles in North America are determined based on competitive market data, geographic location, and individual factors tied to business needs. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Final offers are dependent on job‑related factors like experience, qualifications, and location.
