Schedule: Hybrid, approximately 3 days onsite per week; approximately 4 days onsite during the first two weeks for onboarding
Compensation: $120,000–$150,000 base salary, plus bonus potential up to $25,000
We are recruiting a Senior Software Engineer for our client in the Investment space in Boston to build technology solutions that improve client reporting and streamline client service operations. This is a hands‑on opportunity to design automated reporting frameworks, develop data pipelines, and create applications and tools that reduce manual work. The initial focus will be on reporting infrastructure and data preparation.
Over time, the role will expand into departmental applications, workflow automation, and systems enhancements. The ideal candidate combines strong Python and SQL skills with practical software engineering experience and the ability to work directly with business stakeholders.
- Design and develop scalable reporting frameworks that support standardized reports and client‑specific requirements.
- Build automated workflows that produce client‑ready Excel, PDF, PowerPoint, and Word deliverables.
- Develop and optimize data extraction, transformation, and validation pipelines using Python and SQL.
- Integrate and reconcile data from enterprise systems, external providers, and internal databases.
- Investigate reporting discrepancies, identify root causes, and implement lasting fixes.
- Establish data quality controls to ensure accurate and reliable client deliverables.
- Build internal tools and lightweight applications that streamline reporting, onboarding, and recurring client service processes.
- Support, enhance, and troubleshoot existing systems and vendor applications.
- Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements, design solutions, and support user acceptance testing.
- Follow software development best practices, including version control, code reviews, automated testing, documentation, and CI/CD.
- Collaborate with technology teams to align solutions with architecture, security, and data governance standards.
- Approximately 3–5 years of relevant software engineering experience, ideally with a focus on reporting, data engineering, or analytics platforms.
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting and visualization tools.
- Experience developing automated reporting workflows and business-facing deliverables.
- Solid understanding of relational data models, ETL processes, and data validation.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and comfort working directly with business stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience with financial data providers, vendor reporting platforms, workflow automation, or lightweight application frameworks.
