Job Description & How to Apply Below

At MFS, you will find a culture that supports you in doing what you do best. Our employees work together to reach better outcomes, favoring the strongest idea over the strongest individual. We put people first and demonstrate care and compassion for our community and each other. Because what we do matters - to us as valued professionals and to the millions of people and institutions who rely on us to help them build more secure and prosperous futures.

THE ROLE

The Quantitative Trading Developer will work closely with Quantitative Trading Strategists to turn research, models, and analytics into reliable production systems. The role will focus on integrating new logic and datasets into the wider platform, building scalable services and pipelines, and improving the quality, resilience, and maintainability of the trading team's technology.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Partner with Quantitative Trading Strategists to take research models and analytical prototypes into production.
  • Design and implement the architecture needed to integrate new models, datasets, and analytics into the existing platform.
  • Build and maintain scalable data pipelines, APIs, and services supporting trading analytics and automated trading workflows.
  • Improve the resilience of production services, including REST APIs, dependency management, fallback logic, and failure handling.
  • Develop data-quality controls, monitoring, and alerting across critical datasets and services.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes across trading analytics, research production, and execution workflows.
  • Build appropriate testing frameworks and contribute to code review, deployment, and CI/CD practices.
  • Improve the structure and maintainability of the existing codebase as the platform continues to scale.
  • Work closely with traders, researchers, and technology partners to understand requirements and deliver practical solutions.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or another technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4+ years of experience developing production software, ideally in a data-intensive or quantitative environment.
  • Strong Python software engineering skills, with experience building maintainable applications rather than solely research or analytical code.
  • Good understanding of software design, testing, packaging, version control, and CI/CD.
  • Experience building or supporting REST APIs and working with SQL, Unix/Linux, Git, and containerized environments such as Docker.
  • Experience designing systems that process and manage large structured and unstructured datasets.
  • KDB+/q, KX Insights, and Microsoft Azure experience is advantageous, although strong engineers with an ability to learn new technologies are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience in financial markets, particularly equity or fixed income trading, market structure, or transaction cost analysis, is useful but not essential.
  • Ability to work independently, identify problems, and propose pragmatic technical solutions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly when working with technical stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel internationally on occasion.
