As a Staff Engineer, you'll define and implement the core systems powering Synquery. You'll work hands-on across the stack, contribute to architectural decisions, and guide product-aligned engineering efforts.

You’ll also help establish our technical standards, influence hiring, and mentor teammates. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer excited to wear multiple hats - builder, architect, leader and make foundational contributions to a fast-moving AI product.

• Build Core Systems: Design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure software solutions.

• Contribute to the Architecture: Contribute to the technical architecture decisions to ensure scalability, maintainability, and performance of our systems.

• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with product, design, and ML teams to translate business goals into robust features.

• Advise and Guide

  Provide technical guidance when needed to less experienced engineers and help shape a high-performance, collaborative culture.

• Innovate: Leverage emerging technologies in AI/ML, generative AI, and hybrid search to enhance product capabilities.

• Shape Engineering Culture: As a founding team member, influence team practices, tooling, and values from the ground up.

• Experience: 7+ years in full-stack software development, ideally with experience in early-stage or high-growth startups.

• Technical Stack: Proficiency in Python (FastAPI), Type Script (Next.js), PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker. Experience with LLM APIs (GPT, Claude, etc.) and/or vector DBs (e.g., Pinecone) is a big plus.
