Hiring Immediately – Road Safety Supervisor.

Transdev is seeking a Road Safety Supervisor to manage safe transportation services for the Boston Public Schools contract. The role includes both field and office assignments.

Responsibilities
  • Ensures safety and assists the client, school bus drivers, and bus monitors in overcoming operational challenges.
  • Supervises and instructs school bus drivers on safety, service, and route issues, assisting with on‑time performance.
  • Conducts on‑board evaluations, observes drivers on the road, addresses safety problems, and documents violations.
  • Coaches drivers in response to video‑recorded unsafe events with Drive Cam Manager and Coordinator.
  • Mediates issues between drivers, students, parents, and school personnel.
  • Utilizes computer‑based systems to monitor and improve on‑street service.
  • Reviews route issues and recommends improvements.
  • Monitors, documents, reports, and counsels employees on violations of federal, state or local statutes or ordinances and company policies.
  • Investigates accidents, incidents, unusual occurrences, and complaints.
  • Compiles accurate and timely safety deployment and incident reports; enters reports into Web Risk by end of business day.
  • Evaluates drivers for fitness for duty as necessary.
  • Requests replacement buses/drivers for vehicles involved in accidents or incidents.
  • Assists in ensuring yard and Transdev property safety.
  • Visits schools to evaluate and address service performance and safety issues.
  • May testify on behalf of the company during union grievance process, accident review committee meetings, safety appeals, and other legal or administrative proceedings.
  • Maintains an orderly and clean work area and vehicle.
  • Adheres to a professional dress code.
  • Participates in safety meetings and other events.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Licensing, and Certifications Required
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
Education, Licensing, and Certifications Preferred
  • Valid Class B or higher CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements.
  • Valid school bus certificate.
  • Medical examiner’s certificate.
Experience Required
  • Two (2) years of passenger transit related experience.
Skills and Knowledge Required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to compose simple correspondence and reports.
  • Professional, patient, and diplomatic interaction with internal and external customers.
  • Works well with diverse groups.
  • Detail oriented, organized, and effective time‑management skills.
  • Customer service, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Effectively presents information one‑on‑one and in small groups.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Minimum age 21 years.
  • Map reading and knowledge of service area.
  • Willingness to work early mornings, afternoons or evening shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Pre-Employment Physical
  • Must pass pre‑employment drug test and background screening (including fingerprinting).
  • May be required to pass a pre‑employment physical examination.
Physical Demands

Stand; walk; use hands to manipulate, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. Sit frequently. Climb/balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl occasionally. Lift up to 50 lb. Vision requirements: close, distance, peripheral, depth, night vision, adjust focus.

Work Environment

Outside weather conditions; moving mechanical parts; occasional fumes or airborne particles; moderate noise level. Outdoor exposure and mechanical risk. Reasonable accommodations available for disabilities.
