We are currently hiring a Managing Family Law Paralegal who can step into a leadership role, work independently, and support our principal attorney with high-level casework and team management.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Managing Paralegal with 5–10 years of family law experience who can hit the ground running! This position serves as an attorney’s primary operational and litigation partner, ensuring all cases are organized, compliant, and trial‑ready. This on‑site position blends advanced paralegal responsibilities with executive‑assistant‑level coordination and mentorship for junior staff. The Managing Paralegal plays a critical role in maintaining efficiency, accuracy, and preparedness across a high‑volume family law and estate planning practice.

Timeliness, precision, and professional judgment are essential. This position is ideal for a highly organized and skilled paralegal who thrives in a fast‑paced legal environment and has experience managing both complex casework and junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

Manage a full caseload of family law matters including divorce, custody, visitation, support, and restraining orders.

Draft pleadings, declarations, proposed orders, discovery, trial binders, and hearing materials.

File documents across multiple courts and track compliance with county‑specific rules.

Prepare the attorney for hearings, mediations, and trials.

Assist with trial preparation, exhibits, and legal research.

Manage and maintain the attorney’s calendar, including hearings, depositions, and mediations.

Proactively prevent scheduling conflicts and ensure all deadlines are met.

Coordinate filings and appearances across multiple Washington counties.

Maintain updated templates, checklists, and procedural timelines for each jurisdiction.

Serve as the primary point of contact for clients with professionalism and empathy.

Liaise with opposing counsel and courts, maintaining accurate records and proof of service.

Ensure clients receive timely updates and support throughout their matters.

Guide and mentor junior paralegals and support staff.

Review work product, provide constructive feedback, and help implement consistent workflows and SOPs.

Streamline processes from client intake through trial preparation.

Recommend and implement improvements that enhance efficiency and reduce last‑minute rework.

Collaborate directly with the principal attorney on legal strategy and workflow optimization.

Exercise sound judgment when evaluating timelines, facts, and client interests.

Communicate respectfully and assertively, even when addressing potential conflicts with their attorney or pod.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in Washington Family Law (Snohomish/King County)

Paralegal certificate from an ABA‑approved program (or equivalent experience)

Strong knowledge of legal procedures, court systems, and filing requirements

Excellent drafting, proofreading, and time‑management skills

Proficiency in legal software (e.g., MyCase, Clio, MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, court e‑filing portals)

Leadership experience or strong aptitude for mentoring team members
