Job Title:
Crew Lead Tree Climber

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Crew Lead Tree Climber to join our team at Washington Tree Services. As a Crew Lead, you will be responsible for leading a team of climbers on tree care projects, ensuring the safe completion of tasks, and maintaining high standards of quality work. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of 2-3 arborists on tree care projects, including pruning, trimming, removals, and other services
  • Develop and implement safety plans to ensure crew members' well-being during work hours
  • Conduct pre-job briefings with the crew to review tasks, discuss potential hazards, and assign responsibilities
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Provide guidance and support to team members on climbing techniques, tree identification, and equipment operation
  • Troubleshoot issues and make decisions on-the-fly to minimize downtime and optimize efficiency
  • Communicate effectively with clients, dispatchers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution
  • Participate in training and professional development to stay up-to-date with industry best practices and company policies
Requirements

5+ years of experience as a tree climber or crew lead in the arboriculture industry

  • ISAR (International Society of Arboriculture) or equivalent certification (not required but good to have)
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License
  • Reliable vehicle for transportation to job sites
  • Ability to lift, move, and maneuver up to 75 pounds regularly
  • Experience with chainsaws, wood chippers, and other climbing equipment
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Physical stamina to perform heavy lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
Work Environment
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow
  • Frequent travel to job sites, which may require long hours on the road
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings and weekends as needed
