Full‑time term position for Student Support Services Department Head. Duties to commence September 8, 2026 to June 25, 2027.

As Student Services Department Head, you are part of the school's leadership team and will be committed to furthering NLSchools' goals for student success in an inclusive, safe and caring environment. You will have a students‑first philosophy demonstrated in previous teaching experience.

Reporting to the school principal or designate, you will provide direction and support to teachers, teaching and learning assistants, and student assistants in the area of student services and special education. You will assist in the development of annual staffing plans, ensuring schools are programmed and scheduled appropriately to meet all students' needs, and facilitate school‑based collaboration related to service delivery.

The head will provide advice to school administrators, collaborate on student success initiatives, and coordinate professional development for program initiatives while identifying and building on strengths within their department.

Your work will be guided by the Atlantic Provinces Standards of Practice for School‑based Administrators, including Leading for Learning, Managing Change, Engaging Families and Communities, Shaping a Safe Inclusive Learning Environment, Building Leadership Potential, Demonstrating Professionalism, Promoting Health and Well‑Being, and Managing School Operations and Resources.

• Educational Assessment – utilizes a variety of assessment strategies to support student development.
• Planning Instruction – applies knowledge of student strengths and needs when planning instruction.
• Delivering Instruction – applies knowledge when delivering instruction.
• Learning Environment – creates a learning environment encouraging positive social interaction, active engagement, independence and self‑motivation.
• Collaborative Partnerships – builds collaborative partnerships to enhance student learning.

• Bachelor of Education
• Bachelor of Special Education or equivalent
• NL Teaching Certificate – Level IV or higher
• Minimum five (5) years successful teaching experience
• Demonstrated experience as a leader at the school, department, or provincial level

Annual Teacher Salary Scale contained within the NLTA Provincial Collective Agreement and benefits contained within the agreement.

Applicants without the required qualifications may be considered in accordance with Clause 37.01(d) of the provincial collective agreement.
