Overview
RWE Clean Energy, LLC is hiring for the Solar Farm Technician II role. To start as soon as possible, full time, permanent.
Functional area:
Operations & Maintenance;
Power Plants. Remuneration:
Non-Exempt.
- Test, maintain, and troubleshoot solar PV electrical and mechanical equipment
- Ensure that all tasks are performed safely and by site operating procedures
- Complete Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), JSA’s, Permit to Work, and job-specific documentation required to conduct inspection, maintenance, and repairs safely
- Proactively look for improvement opportunities to job appropriate processes and procedures
- Perform data collection and prepare reports to meet reporting requirements
- Perform balance of plant and switchyard work as required
- Monitor the activities of maintenance contractors and ensure corrective actions where appropriate
- Perform electrical testing as necessary, including insulation and thermal testing
- Document all work and generate reports as necessary
- Use Microsoft Office for communication, presentation, and documentation
- Use computer software in support of maintenance and troubleshooting
- Identify gaps in safety standards and safety risks in the environment
- At times, may assist with BOP activities
- Respond quickly to emergencies or situations requiring immediate troubleshooting and corrective actions
- Ensure site access, site HSE, security, deliveries, and inspections are performed by site protocols
- Interface with any 3rd party contractors working at our facilities
- Available to respond to nontraditional operating hours for operations, maintenance, and emergent issues, including emergent abnormal operating conditions, execution of maintenance, tracking work orders, resolution of O&M issues
- Operate mobile equipment including mowers, forklift, tractor, excavator, and motor vehicles
- Represent the company in a professional manner with contractor and vendor relations, as well as during partnership opportunities within the community
- All other duties as assigned
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Associate degree in engineering or related field from an accredited US school other than correspondence or internet preferred
- NABCEP Certification or Electrical License preferred
- Unrestricted driver license in good standing
- Minimum 2 years of work experience as a maintenance electrician (commercial or industrial), or minimum 4 years as a multi-craft maintenance technician performing electrical work on operating equipment; or minimum 2 years in operations and maintenance of power generation, transmission, or distribution
- Preference will be given to candidates with solar O&M experience
- Must be skilled in at least one of: power plant operations, electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance, substation maintenance
- Must be competent in power plant safety protocols and electrical safety
- Must be competent in understanding the NEC
- Knowledge of and experience with hand and power tools
- Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures
- Ability to work within tight deadlines and evolving schedules
- Ability and willingness to travel to and from job sites as assigned, including supporting other sites
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Routine operation of a computer/tablet and other office productivity machines
- Frequent oral and written communications
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required
- Complete all required training in a satisfactory manner and timeframe
- First aid/CPR/AED
- OSHA Certified
- Must be trainable and adaptable to new technologies and methods
- Must take ownership of responsibilities and look beyond the work task for opportunities for corrective work
- Must communicate verbally and orally at a high level
- Ability to push/pull/lift tools and equipment weighing up to and over 50 lbs
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
- Ability to walk, climb, and stand extensively during the work day
- Field-based role with some travel to other RWECE office and field locations
