Overview

RWE Clean Energy, LLC – To start as soon as possible, full time, permanent.

The Solar Farm Technician Associate monitors solar and energy storage farms’ availability and ensures mechanical and electrical maintenance is performed to maintain established safety and operating targets. This role executes daily scheduling with a prioritized list of work provided by planning, focusing on maximizing generation and ensuring work is prioritized and completed.

Role Responsibilities
  • Test, maintain, and troubleshoot solar PV and battery storage electrical equipment.
  • Ensure that all assigned maintenance tasks are performed safely and by site operating procedures for Storage/Solar PV sites.
  • Complete Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), JSA’s, Permit to Work, and job-specific documentation required to conduct maintenance and repairs safely.
  • Proactively seek improvement opportunities to job-related processes and procedures.
  • Perform data collection and prepare reports to meet reporting requirements.
  • Perform balance of plant and switchyard work as required.
  • Maintain BESS, trackers, inverters, and other PV electrical equipment as assigned by the Site Supervisor or Lead.
  • Monitor maintenance contractors and ensure corrective actions where appropriate.
  • Perform current and voltage readings, as necessary.
  • Document all work and generate reports as necessary.
  • Identify gaps in safety standards and safety risks in the environment.
  • At times, assist with BOP activities.
  • Use available tools to monitor energy output and respond quickly to emergencies or situations requiring immediate troubleshooting and corrective actions.
  • Ensure site access, site HSE, security, deliveries, and inspections are performed by site protocols.
  • Interface with third-party contractors working at facilities.
  • Be available to respond to nontraditional operating hours for operations, maintenance, and emergent issues, including emergent abnormal operating conditions, execution of maintenance, tracking work orders, and resolution of O&M issues.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements and Experiences
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in engineering or related science from an accredited US school (excluding correspondence or online) preferred.
  • Minimum two years of work experience in operations and maintenance of power generation, transmission, and distribution. Preference for renewable energy experience, preferably solar and battery storage.
  • Unrestricted driver license in good standing.
  • Willing to relocate within 1 hour drive of the site.
  • Skilled in at least one: power plant operations, electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance; substations maintenance; power plant safety protocols.
  • Knowledge of and experience with hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and travel to job sites as assigned.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in routine operation of a computer/tablet and office productivity machinery.
  • Strong verbal and written communications.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Complete required training in a satisfactory manner and timeframe.
  • First aid/CPR/AED certification and OSHA certification.
  • Shift work required.
  • Role is a combined field and office-based position with some travel to other RWECE locations. Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations.
Physical Requirements
  • Work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to walk, climb, and stand extensively during the workday.
  • Ability to push/pull/lift tools and equipment weighing up to and over 50 lbs.
