Responsibilities
  • Manage all clerical and administrative tasks for the Sheriff’s Office and serve as the primary point of contact for the public.
  • Perform reception duties, greet visitors, and respond to inmate inquiries at the jail lobby.
  • Verify credentials of professional visitors and manage visit scheduling, including supervised and virtual visits.
  • Coordinate court‑ordered evaluations and supervised visits for DHHS and inmates’ children.
  • Initiate lobby arrests by checking potential arrestees against warrants via NCIC/CCIC databases.
  • Handle incoming U.S. Mail and parcels for staff and inmates and process outgoing inmate mail per jail policy.
  • Order and maintain office supplies and equipment, monitor inventory, and coordinate with vendors and technicians for maintenance.
  • Enter daily data into Jail Administration Comstats (population figures, visitor statistics, mail volume) and maintain accurate records.
  • Verify bond details for transactions outside Boulder County and log them in Comstats.
  • Maintain an updated list of notaries, manage supplies, and assist with notarization tasks for inmates and families.
  • Distribute phone and badge lists to staff and maintain the employee photo board.
  • Adapt duties as assigned or needed by the division, including covering extended hours, vacations, medical leave, and training sessions.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two years of clerical or computer entry experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must learn the Colorado and National Crime Information system (NCIC/CCIC).
  • Proficiency with modern office equipment and office software.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines under time pressure, and handle confidential information.
  • Strong English grammar, spelling, and communication skills.
  • Adaptability to work special hours on short notice and to establish relationships with employees, agencies, and the public.

Physical Requirements
  • Vision:
    Single‑eye correctable vision acceptable; constant reading of computer screens and printouts.

    Occasionally used for detecting drugs or harmful substances.
  • Speech:
    Fluently speak and understand English; clear diction on radio and telephone.
  • Body movement:
    Use of arms, hands, and legs to reach overhead, type, write, and move around the work area; ability to kneel, stand, and sit for extended periods.
