This is a perfect opportunity for energetic individuals who are passionate about working with youth – whether you're an experienced teacher, counselor, youth leader, or a college student majoring in education, recreation or other related field. Take your skills to the next level by overseeing a team of 10-14 camp staff and managing a group of 60 enthusiastic elementary aged campers at our Summer Day Camp base at the Louisville Recreation & Senior Center daily.

Examples of Duties:
  • Lead the Fun:
    Oversee the daily activities for up to 60 elementary aged campers, creating an engaging and inclusive environment where every camper has an opportunity to feel connected and has an unforgettable summer.
  • Foster Connections:
    Build positive relationships with campers, families, and staff, becoming a trusted leader and role model.
  • Dive In (Literally!):
    Join the fun by actively participating in games, crafts, swimming, field trips, and more.
  • Keep It Safe & Sound:
    Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment by maintaining facilities, equipment, and supplies.

    Manage schedules, records, and supplies to keep camp running smoothly behind the scenes.
  • Problem‑Solve with Confidence:
    Address and resolve concerns quickly to ensure everyone’s experience is positive.

    Administer First Aid and medications.

    Handle setup and takedown of camp equipment each day, ensuring a smooth transition for campers.

Time Requirements
  • Seasonal Summer Job:
    Requires 21-40 hours/week, Monday through Thursday.
  • Camp

    Schedule:

    Runs June 1-July 31, 2026; must commit to at least 8 of the 9 weeks.
  • Pre‑Camp Preparations:
    Approximately 20 flexible, remote, planning hours needed between March and May.
  • Training:
    Approximately 20+ mandatory hours in May, including one Saturday (TBD) and May 26-29. Student schedules can usually be accommodated.
General

Qualifications:

Minimum nineteen (19) years of age by first day of Summer Day Camp on June 1, 2026.

Education, Training, and

Experience:
  • Candidate must provide one (1) or more Verification Letter(s) documenting a minimum of four‑hundred and fifty‑five (455) hours of paid or volunteer work with four (4) or more youth in a group. Assistance is available if needed in securing verification, e‑mail Mandy

Each Verification Letter must include the following:
  • Ages of children worked or volunteered with.
  • Total number of hours worked directly with children.
  • Start and end dates of paid or volunteer work.
  • Duties performed.
  • Name, title, and contact information of person providing the Verification Letter.
