Job Summary

Bio Serve Space Technologies at CU Boulder encourages applications for an Engineering and Scientific Advisor. This position will support complex space life, physical and material science and engineering projects. We Are

Bio Serve Space Technologies is a Center within the Ann and HJ Smead Aerospace Engineering Sciences department at CU Boulder. Since its inception in 1987, Bio Serve has designed, built, and flown hundreds of microgravity life science research experiments and hardware on over 75 spaceflight missions. Bio Serve has a full suite of spaceflight-certified hardware available for use by its customers and partners.

Past partners include pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, Universities, NIH, NASA‑funded and other government agency researchers. Bio Serve is a full‑service, turn‑key organization that enables its customers and partners to focus solely on research while Bio Serve manages all other activities required to successfully fly experiments in microgravity.

What Your

Key Responsibilities Will Be
  • Electrical and thermal analyses for complex engineering projects
  • Supporting on‑orbit microscopy of complex research projects
  • Advising on day‑to‑day hardware development activities
  • Advising on day‑to‑day research development and definition activities
  • Supporting proposal writing as needed
  • Supporting NASA flight safety reviews, on orbit operations and project management
  • Advising on overall administration and strategic direction of the Center
What You Should Know

This appointment will not support a J‑1 visa or H‑1B visa sponsorship.

The hire rate for this position is $100.00 per hour, working 0‑15 hours per week.

What We Require
  • PhD in Aerospace Engineering
  • 20+ years of experience working with Bio Serve Space Technologies
  • Experience supporting space life science research and hardware development projects
