Systems Engineer, Electronics Engineer, Electrical Engineering
Boulder, Colorado, United States Hardware
Apple designs consumer electronics that have touched millions and changed the way people interact with electronic devices around the world. The Instrumentation Systems Engineering Group plays a key role in keeping up quality standards, and through work with the team, you’ll have the unique opportunity to impact products all across Apple. We are looking for an engineer who will be responsible for the development and deployment of calibration and test equipment for Apple’s manufacturing lines.
This engineer will work closely with the validation and audio engineering groups throughout the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase to ensure the success of current and future Apple products.
You will brainstorm, design, simulate, and develop instrumentation systems used to calibrate and test Apple’s new groundbreaking technology and products. Your design work will range from lab scale systems - requiring deep understanding of technology and product - to developing automated mass-production measurement tools, where balancing engineering tradeoffs between accuracy, precision, costs, lead-time, and throughput is critical. With great diversity of the problem space, you will rely on your engineering background to architect the optimal solution for the problem at hand, leaning on the fundamentals of the technology.
You will work collaboratively with a creative and diverse team of experienced engineers from all disciplines including mechanical system design, core technology, product design, and operations to develop state-of-the‑art measurement systems for Apple.

- Specify and acquire equipment, components, and tools for use in a NPI environment
- Deploy and qualify these systems in‑situ
- Analyze large amounts of calibration and performance data (Excel/Matlab/JMP)
- Estimated travel of up to 10% international travel
- MS in Mechanical Engineering, Acoustics or a similar field
- 1+ years of professional experience
- Deep familiarity with room acoustics and/or transducer design
- Experience with acoustic and multi‑physics simulation (Comsol/Ansys)
- Experience with CAD tools, preferably NX/UG
- Experience programming in one or more of the following: C/C++/Python/Matlab
- PhD or 3+ years of professional experience
- High volume consumer electronics manufacturing experience
- Experience designing scalable instrumentation and HW/SW automation
- Experience working with contract manufacturers (CM)
- Experience with acoustic materials specification
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
