Role Impact: The Americas Public Finance sector plays a vital role in the capital markets, serving as a key funding source and growth driver for various segments of the U.S. economy. Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting in‑depth research and preparing comprehensive documents and presentations for rating committees.
- Attending rating committee meetings alongside senior analysts as assigned.
- Demonstrating a solid understanding of ratings criteria and financial statement analysis.
- Assisting in the collection and analysis of data for special projects.
- Collaborating with analysts to publish periodic thought leadership articles.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, government/public policy, or a related field.
- An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 2+ years’ experience.
- A demonstrated interest in government operations and utilities.
- A strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis, including cash flow and credit models.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with clients.
- High proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. (Knowledge of programming languages and data analytics, as well as experience with AI and automation tools that enhance efficiency, is a plus.)
- Willingness to learn through both formal training and hands‑on experience, adaptability to handle changing priorities and complex situations, and creativity to bring innovative ideas to improve processes and outcomes.
- Ability to thrive in a deadline‑driven environment while managing multiple priorities with organization and attention to detail.
All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.
We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in‑person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer.
Compensation/Benefits Information: For US candidates, the anticipated base salary range for this position is USD $63,000 – $84,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications.
