This remote role has a salary range of $80k-110k depending on skills and experience, with a generous leave and benefits package.

The Payroll Manager leads all aspects of payroll processing including but not limited to balancing payroll budget, documenting all transactions related to employee wages, commissions, bonuses. This role supports both onsite and remote team members, coordinating closely with the Finance, HR, and Operations teams. The Payroll Manager will own biweekly payroll processing, year-end activities, and audits, ensuring accurate payroll operations, strict regulatory compliance across states, and data integrity across multi-state, multi-company payrolls.
This position ensures data integrity and continuous improvement of payroll processes and controls.
- Lead end-to-end multi-state, multi-company payroll processing for exempt and non-exempt employees (350+ employees, over 27 states with 11 separate entities), including but not limited to wage/hour classifications, overtime, bonuses, commissions, variable compensation, profit sharing, garnishments, leave, terminations and adjustments.
- Ensure accurate tax with holdings, benefit deductions (voluntary and involuntary), wage garnishments, child support orders, and reimbursement workflows; manage jurisdiction-specific nuances (multi-state for the US).
- Reconcile payroll data for accuracy; resolve discrepancies with HR, site managers, and department supervisors.
- Ensure payroll runs are completed on time and in compliance with internal controls and company policies.
- Process and submit international monthly payroll through HRIS system for EOR population.
- Prepare and file all required payroll tax returns (federal, state, local in the US) and respond to notices from tax authorities.
- Manage year-to-date tax reporting, unemployment insurance, and reconciliations for the US.
- Stay current with payroll tax regulations across the US; advise on changes affecting payroll.
- Lead tasks including W-2s, quarterly 941s, 940, 1099s (if applicable) and related state filings.
- Prepare and distribute year-end payroll documents; respond to employee inquiries and provide year-end guidance.
- Coordinate internal and external audits related to payroll and payroll tax compliance.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of payroll processes, controls, and SOPs.
- Perform regular reconciliations of payroll GL accounts, benefits, with holdings, and payroll accounts.
- Monitor access controls, data security, and confidentiality of payroll information.
- Administer and optimize the payroll system (Rippling) for US, including setup, tax rules, reporting, and workflows.
- Collaborate with IT/HR to implement system updates, patches, and process improvements; support integrations with time and attendance systems used.
