Training & CertificationAs a new Pharmacy Technician, you are required to complete an extensive CVS Pharmacy Technician Training Program and satisfy all registration, licensing and certification requirements according to your State's Board of Pharmacy guidelines. Your duties will be restricted until completion of all requirements, after which you may build clinical, technical and insurance knowledge.
Required Qualifications- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Licensure requirements vary by state
- Attention and Focus – ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without distraction
- Customer Service Orientation – actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner; notice and understand customers’ reactions and respond appropriately
- Communication Skills – use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with customers and colleagues; actively listen by giving full attention to what others are saying, ask questions as appropriate and do not interrupt
- Mathematical Reasoning – use math to solve a problem such as calculating day’s supply of a prescription
- Problem Resolution – judge when something is wrong or likely to go wrong; recognize a problem; choose the best course of action when faced with a complex situation with several available options
- Remain upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods
- Move about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly moving from one work area to another
- Pick, pinch, type or otherwise work primarily with fingers rather than whole hand or arm
- Extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction; bend body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist
- Stoop to a considerable degree and require full use of the lower extremities and back muscles
- Express ideas by spoken word where detailed instructions must be conveyed accurately
- Perceive sounds at normal speaking levels; receive detailed information through oral communication
- Visual acuity – close visual acuity required for transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, reading, visual inspection involving small parts
- Occasional lifting up to 30 lbs; exert up to 30 lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs of force frequently, and/or negligible force constantly to move objects
- Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
- Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- PTCB National Certification
High School diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.

Typical pay range: $17.57 - $27.57 per hour. Pay depends on experience, education, geography and other factors.
