Senior Data Engineer
Respondology is looking for a hands‑on, forward‑thinking Senior Data Engineer to join our growing team. This is a remote role open to candidates in the US and Canada. Travel to Boulder for team events is required twice per year.
Responsibilities- Bootstrap a data platform and warehousing strategy end‑to‑end.
- Design scalable data architectures supporting transactional and analytical workloads.
- Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for data ingestion and transformation.
- Design and optimize database schemas and data models across Postgres, Open Search, and Redshift.
- Support data warehousing solutions and best practices for data organization and accessibility.
- Improve database access efficiency through query optimization, indexing strategies, and performance tuning.
- Create data observability and monitoring systems to ensure data quality and pipeline reliability.
- Make data easily accessible for Business Analysts and Data Scientists.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or related technical field—or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience as a Data Engineer or similar role.
- Hands‑on experience with SQL, database design, and data modeling best practices.
- Experience building and maintaining production data pipelines and ETL processes.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and modern data stack tooling.
- Experience with Postgres, Open Search/Elasticsearch, Redshift, and AWS data services.
- Hands‑on experience with data orchestration and transformation tools such as Airflow, Dagster, dbt, or similar.
- Prior experience bootstrapping a data warehousing platform like Snowflake.
- Experience in a fast‑paced startup or scaling SaaS environment.
- Strong understanding of data quality frameworks, observability, and monitoring best practices.
- Experience supporting AI/ML teams with scheduled data ingestion for RAG purposes.
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Proactive, collaborative mindset working with Engineering, Product, and Biz Ops teams.
Base Salary: $155,000–$175,000 DOE plus bonus and equity.
