Job SummaryClaim Advocates handle the claim process from beginning to end, working closely with the client, insurance carrier, adjuster, claimants, and underwriting staff. They apply company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks, requiring a basic working knowledge of principles and practices within the specialty area.
Responsibilities- Assists agency clients in reporting and monitoring Commercial Personal line claims, including taking initial loss notices, sending loss notices to insurers, communicating with insured parties on adjuster assignments, tracking claim payments, and following claims until closure by the insurance company.
- Conducts initial reviews of claims for coverage questions, evaluates denial of coverage for accuracy, and acts as a liaison between insured parties and adjusters.
- Serves as contact for adjusters and insured parties for claim‑related issues.
- Refers complex coverage questions to the Risk Manager.
- Secures loss runs from carriers as requested.
- Prepares claims information for presentations.
- Resolves customer claim issues in coordination with Account Executives and Producers to reduce E&O exposure.
- Provides claims packets to customers and prospects as requested.
- Reads policy forms, understands coverage, and questions carriers when necessary.
- Evaluates and challenges claim reserves in accord with industry and claim‑specific knowledge.
- Cooperates with counsel for suit or trial.
- Active Property & Casualty License or ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire date.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills, interacting with colleagues and leaders at all levels.
- Ability to work independently and achieve a high‑level product within requested time constraints.
- Team‑player attitude to meet goals.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Applied EPIC experience is a plus.
- High School Diploma;
Associate degree or higher preferred. - 3+ years of claim experience, industry experience.
The base compensation range for this position is $23,000 – $28,000. Placement within the range will be based on a variety of factors, including skills, experience, qualifications, location, and internal equity.
