Base pay range

$19.00/hr – $22.00/hr

Purpose: The Avery Cellar Operator takes ownership of beer quality and yield from the Cellar to the package. Dry‑hopping, adjunct additions, tank cleaning, and yeast maintenance are all responsibilities of the Cellar Operator. This role is a Monday‑Thursday or Tuesday‑Friday shift position.

Responsibilities
  • Beer maintenance, yeast monitoring, dry hopping, and additions of sanitary post‑fermentation ingredients.
  • Work closely with the lab daily regarding fermentation management and cellar processes.
  • Perform CIP using manual and automated processes of fermenters, BBTs, and pipe fencing.
  • Thorough knowledge and support for both brewhouse and packaging operations.
  • Maintain a safe and tidy work space.
  • Take direction on daily tasks from Senior Cellar Operators and Cellar Management.
  • Communicate daily issues and positive highlights in a daily shift report.
  • Attend sensory education and panel when available.
Requirements / Experience / Skills
  • One year of cellar‑specific experience in a professional brewing setting preferred, OR two+ years experience in a related production department.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, task‑oriented environment and efficiently multitask during an 8‑ or 10‑hour shift.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to work closely with Engineering to troubleshoot and correct issues.
  • Willingness to work a rotating schedule across two shifts (AM, PM).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, and/or wet conditions for extended periods.
  • Knowledge of PPE, GMP, and HACCP rules and regulations.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to lift 20 kg boxes to shoulder height.
  • Able to perform repetitive work requiring twisting, bending, pulling, and pushing in tight areas.
  • Ability to stand for the duration of a shift.
  • Ability to climb a ladder.

Depending on shift, this role is entitled to additional Shift Premium pay.
