Mile High Youth Corps (MHYC) is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization established in 1992 to give youth ages 18 to 24 a chance to earn an income and learn hands‑on job skills while serving in their communities. In its first year, 20 youth served Denver neighborhoods through a single 10‑week program. Today, MHYC engages over 250 youth (called Corps members) every year through several comprehensive programs that integrate paid work experience on community service projects with leadership development, career exploration, and education.
During its 30 year history, Mile High Youth Corps has grown from a small, seasonal, neighborhood‑based organization to a comprehensive, year‑round, regional program serving 23 counties from two regional offices, Metro Denver and the Southern Front Range.
Position Overview:
Join a growing and thriving organization. MHYC offers a leading compensation package including 17 paid holidays per year (minimum); comprehensive insurance coverage including health, dental, vision and life; 403b retirement; mental health and wellness support; professional development; hybrid work options; and a modified work schedule of 72 hours over 2 weeks (ex. one Friday off every 2 weeks).
Operating from MHYC’s Denver Headquarters, the Program Coordinator oversees Corps member program experience and hires and onboards Land Conservation crews comprised of 18–24‑year‑olds. Responsible for coordinating the onboarding and orientation of Program Mentor(s), Land Conservation Leaders, Summer of Service and Fall Forestry Corps members. Plays a critical role in monitoring the Corps member experience through collection and follow‑up on programmatic evaluations and project feedback surveys.
Provides day‑to‑day coordination of land conservation projects, such as trail construction and maintenance, invasive species removal, fire mitigation, park development and habitat restoration, and critical support for operations and risk management. Supports the organization’s diversity, equity and inclusion goals. All youth program participants, known as Corps members, are enrolled in Ameri Corps ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). ), a national service program.
