BMC is currently seeking new grad and experienced Registered Nurses (RN) to join our Urgent Care team! This position works 32-40 hours per week and rotates a weekend shift about every third week of the month. Our Urgent Care works 8 am to 7 pm Monday – Friday, and 9 am – 5 pm Saturday & Sunday.

  • Part-time employees are eligible for medical / dental / vision, voluntary benefits, and holiday pay (if regularly scheduled to work on an observed holiday).
  • Day shift schedules are Monday through Friday. There are occasional voluntary four (4) hour shifts on Saturday mornings from 8 am - 12 pm for several primary clinics (Family Medicine and Pediatrics).
  • Experience working in both primary care and specialty care clinics.
Job Duties:
  • Performs thorough assessment of patients; provides comprehensive professional nursing care to individuals and/or families acting as the patient’s advocate, facilitator, and educator.
  • Concisely documents the nursing assessment, observations and interventions, including medication and treatment therapies, in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) according to the Urgent Care standards of care. Submits faxed or electronic drug Rx or refill requests.
  • Documents discharge instructions and education in EMR.
  • Is accountable for the administration, observation, charting, reporting effects of drugs administered, intravenous procedure, and other therapeutic and diagnostic measures in a safe and accurate manner, per nursing protocols.
  • Prepares examination/treatment rooms for provider’s use by ensuring that appropriate supplies, equipment, and instruments are available and stocked. Reviews itemized department stock lists and ensures that all necessary supplies, equipment and instruments are maintained daily and are ready for the next shift before clocking out. Maintains examination/treatment rooms and Urgent Care supplies areas in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Performs opening and closing duties as defined by department protocols.
  • Collects specimens from patients per visit protocol or provider’s order in accordance with CLIA performance standards. When ordered, performs and documents waived testing in the electronic health record. Correctly labels laboratory specimens prior to sending to the laboratory verifying lab order has been entered into patient’s electronic record. When required, prints out requisition from patient’s medical record to accompany specimen to lab.
Experience

and Skills Skills and Abilities:
  • Broad knowledge base of general nursing practice, knowledge of acute practice based on skill level, licensure and scope of practice.
  • Good history-taking; quick, accurate assessments; accurate and complete documentation; good organizational skills.
  • To relate and communicate well with patients, physicians, and staff.
  • Demonstrates self‑direction in establishing priorities and working with little supervision.
  • Maintains a high level of precision in judgment, accuracy of assessment, and skill in problem solving under stress based on skill level and licensure and scope of practice.
Requirements

Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program. Current licensure by the state of Colorado, when applicable. Must possess BLS certification and will obtain ACLS and PALS certification within 6 months of hire.

Experience

Minimum of one (1) year previous experience in a critical care area such as ICU, CCU, ER or another Urgent Care, preferred.

Salary Range:
  • $29.50–37.50 /per hour; depending on experience

This position will be posted for a minimum of 3 days or until filled.
