Utility Locator

Job Description

We are looking for a Utility Locator to work outdoors, using a company-provided vehicle and laptop, to locate underground utilities for the excavator or property owner at the work site. You will be responsible for correctly, safely and efficiently locating utilities such as telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water and sewer systems. You must thoroughly search designated areas, mark the location, complete documentation and photograph each locate.

This is a full-time daytime position with a 48‑hour turnaround on most locates, requiring overtime and weekend availability.

Starting rate ranges from $22.00 per hour for new locators to $30.00 per hour for those with substantial prior locating experience.

• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Computer proficiency.

• Able to pass a drug screen (safety‑sensitive position).
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Able to work in confined spaces; walk, bend and lift up to 75 lbs.
• Able to distinguish between colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities.
• Able to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, maps and prints.
• Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.
