The Launch and Missile Defense Systems division within Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an Algorithms Software Engineer level 2 or 3 with Linux environment and software development experience to join the BOA/ESL Algorithms team. The BOA program leverages OPIR data in supporting the software development and analysis of specialized combat systems that are providing advanced algorithms to improve tracking, prediction, and discrimination capabilities for emerging threats worldwide.

The position is in Boulder, CO – Boulder is nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and only 25 miles from downtown Denver.

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, analyzing, testing, and implementing extendable / reusable algorithms to improve missile tracking capabilities. You are expected to communicate technical information effectively and clearly, and present technical approaches and findings.

• Breadth and depth in the application of mathematics to perform data analysis and algorithm development for missile tracking applications.
• Development and performance analysis of tracking and state estimation algorithms.
• Tool and prototype development using Modern C++ and Python.
• Algorithm defect tracking and resolution.
• Technical documentation as required.
• Work in cross-discipline teams and communicate clearly across various levels of engineers.

This requisition may be filled at either a Software Engineer (T02) or a Principal Software Engineer (T03) level.

• Algorithm Software Engineer (Level
  2):
  Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline.
• Principal Algorithm Software Engineer (Level
  3):
  Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of experience, or a PhD and 1 year of experience.
• Applicants must have a minimum of 1 year of software development experience with Python and/or C++.
• Applicants must have Linux experience and working knowledge of common utilities like grep, awk, cat head, etc.
• Experience developing, analyzing, testing, and implementing extendable / reusable algorithms.
• Applicants must have algorithm design and state estimation experience.
• Experience with data analysis - Population statistics and trend identification.
• The ability to bridge between theoretical concepts and practical implementation.
• Ability and willingness to travel up-to 10% to support business needs.
• Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start; with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
