About The Altitude:
The Altitude is a documentary-style production company that elevates stories. We partner with value-driven brands to create compelling visual narratives that resonate. Our work is built on authenticity and a deep respect for the craft of filmmaking. We're a small, dedicated team, and we're looking for an editor who shares our passion for story.
The Role:
We're not looking for a button-pusher. We're looking for a storyteller who lives in the timeline. You'll be the creative force who transforms raw footage into emotionally resonant films, from short-form social content to documentary features. You have a strong sense of pacing, a great ear for sound, and an impeccable eye for color. You understand that the edit is where the story is truly found.
What You'll Do:
- Assemble and edit raw footage into compelling narratives that align with our documentary-style aesthetic.
- Craft everything from rough cuts to fine cuts, shaping the story and ensuring a seamless flow.
- Perform color grading and sound design that enhance the mood and emotional impact of each piece.
- Collaborate closely with our small team, incorporating feedback and contributing your own creative ideas.
- Manage project files and media with meticulous organization. We value clean timelines and logical folder structures.
- Create dynamic cutdowns and social media versions of our primary films.
What You Bring:
- A Storyteller's Instinct: Your portfolio demonstrates an ability to build emotion, create rhythm, and find the narrative thread in unscripted footage.
- Technical Fluency: You're deeply proficient in DaVinci Resolve. This is essential. Experience with After Effects is a significant plus.
- A Discerning Eye: You have a strong aesthetic and a point of view on color, composition, and pacing.
- An Unwavering Attention to Detail: You’re organized, self-sufficient, and treat every project with care, from media management to final export.
- A Collaborative Spirit: You’re good with feedback, communicate clearly, and enjoy being part of a creative process. You understand that the best ideas win, regardless of where they come from.
Bonus Points if You Have:
- Experience with motion graphics or light animation.
- A background in or passion for the outdoor, adventure, or social impact sectors.
The Details:
This is a part-time, contract position for 20-30 hours per week. While this is a part-time position, we are a growing company and there is potential for this role to evolve into a full-time opportunity for the right candidate. While we have a studio in the Salt Lake area and prefer some in-person collaboration, we are open to a flexible or hybrid arrangement for the right person.
Compensation will be competitive and based on experience.
How to Apply:
Send an email to hello with the subject line "Video Editor & Storyteller." Include the following:
- A link to your reel or portfolio. This is the most important part.
