Job Summary
The Human Resource Assistant is responsible for performing HR‑related duties on a professional level and works closely with the Manager of HR. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance. It requires a perceptive individual sensitive to both employee and business needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct recruitment efforts for all exempt, non‑exempt, and temporary employees.
- Determine and evaluate applicant qualifications by pre‑screening, analyzing responses, verifying references, and comparing to job requirements.
- Arrange management and culture‑fit interviews by coordinating schedules.
- Attract applicants by placing job advertisements and contacting recruiters as needed.
- Ensure compliance with USCIS Form I‑9 Employment Eligibility Verification; periodically audit Forms I‑9.
- Conduct employee welcome and new‑hire orientation.
- Provide HR support to employees and the company, offering advice on routine HR issues.
- Monitor activities, ensure fair treatment of employees, and maintain compliance with established programs, policies, and precedents.
- Assist managers or senior staff to resolve complex issues.
- Maintain and coordinate employee recognition programs.
- Assist with benefit administration, including maintaining employee lists, verifying billing accuracy, auditing invoicing, and assisting with open enrollment.
- Liaise with insurance providers to resolve benefit‑related problems and ensure effective plan utilization.
- Possess working knowledge of FMLA and ADA compliance requirements.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, customer‑service, telephone, recruiting, interviewing, and people skills.
- Professional manner when dealing with employees, vendors, and company contacts.
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Motivated self‑starter capable of performing duties with little supervision.
- Demonstrated organizational and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Customer‑focused attitude and discretion when handling confidential materials.
- Capacity to multi‑task in a fast‑paced work environment and organize under expected timelines.
- Team player who works well across internal departments and serves as trusted advisor.
- Sound judgment and problem‑solving skills.
- Understanding of HR best practices and current regulations is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or a related field preferred.
- 1–3 years’ experience in office management and/or administrative assistant roles.
- 2–3 years’ experience as an HR Specialist/Generalist, Recruiter, or equivalent.
