Area Supervisor

Ross Stores, Inc. invites a dedicated Area Supervisor to lead a specific store area, ensuring exceptional customer experiences and operational excellence. The role spans opening and closing responsibilities, associate supervision, and operational process execution.

• Open and close the store, supervising associates and maintaining a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment.
• Maintain proper merchandise presentation and a clean work area at all times.
• Execute and supervise company operational processes as needed.
• Ensure a safe and secure shopping environment for customers, associates, and leaders.
• Correct or report unsafe conditions or practices and secure the building and store assets.
• Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
• Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect, demonstrating courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
• Represent and support the company brand at all times, maintaining a professional appearance in accordance with dress code.
• Keep all store areas clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard, including daily trash removal.
• Ensure recovery, sizing and markdowns are completed to company standards through teaching, assigning tasks, and following up per company best practice.
• Process all merchandise with a sense of urgency and receive merchandise trucks when needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of all stockrooms and ensure merchandise is processed and placed on the sales floor.
• Execute store loss prevention responsibilities, safeguarding confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
• Maintain pace, energy, and presence at the front end, managing customer line and training associates on cash registers, shortage control, and other front‑end procedures.
• Ensure front‑end equipment works properly and all supplies and recovery items are stocked.
• Maintain fit‑room cleanliness and compliance with security and ticketing procedures.
• Execute administrative duties such as cash pulls, bank deposits, payroll administration, and scheduling compliance.

• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Fluency in English.
• Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
• Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications.
• Basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends.
• Possess the competencies of managing work processes, business acumen, planning, building talent, collaborating, leading by example, communicating effectively, and ensuring accountability & execution.

• Use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
• Spend up 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
• Regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
• Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
• Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
• Stockroom associates may need to regularly push, pull, and lift more than 20 lbs.
