• Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
• Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products matching ordered portions to prevent shrink.
• Recommend deli or bakery items to customers.
• Use all bakery equipment (refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens) per company guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking instructions.
• Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipes, using kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients.
• Check product quality and review “sell by” dates, taking appropriate action.
• Use kitchen equipment such as stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe, etc.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understand store layout and locate products when requested by customers.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions.
• Monitor inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained, maintaining temperature logs.
• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create a welcoming environment that makes customers feel valued by answering product questions.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with procedures and identifying unsafe conditions, notifying management.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting needed repairs.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Work cooperatively in a high‑paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflict in a nonconfrontational, reasonable manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve customer and business issues.
