• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate SLI endorsement
• Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and a solid understanding of Deaf culture
• Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school setting is highly valued
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff
• Commitment to maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards

• Provide direct, 1-on-1 sign language interpretation for students during classroom instruction and school activities
• Collaborate with educators and support staff to adapt communication methods and assist with instructional delivery
• Foster an inclusive and accessible environment, advocating for each students needs
• Accurately interpret spoken English to ASL (and vice versa) to support academic and social engagement
• Participate in team meetings, professional development, and ongoing training as requested
