Well-established family-owned dealership in the Cape Cod market is seeking an experienced Automotive Service Manager to lead its service department to the next level. This is a good store with a solid foundation already in place and strong CSI, but it needs a results-driven leader to bring fresh energy, maximize performance, and unlock the department’s full potential. The successful candidate will be strong with recruiting+retaining technicians as well as training and developing their service advisors to upsell recommended work, not just present it.
The Service Manager hired will be responsible for driving growth, improving efficiency, and elevating the service experience.
The ideal candidate is a hands‑on, strategic leader who leads by example and excels at motivating service teams. They must be confident overseeing day‑to‑day operations, managing technicians, and ensuring that customer vehicles are serviced efficiently and to the highest standards. This person will have support from a strong and stable Parts Department, as well as support from upper management.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the service department
- Create and implement processes to increase efficiency, customer satisfaction, and profitability in the service department.
- Set a clear vision for the Service Department to achieve targeted performance goals.
- Hold daily and weekly meetings for the department, as well as 1:1s with individual team members.
- Ensure the department has green CSI through building and maintaining relationships with customers and ensuring that they receive high-quality service.
- Oversee the Service Advisors and ensure that ROs are written up and closed out in a timely manner.
- Manage and supervise the service technicians, ensuring that all work is performed to the highest standards and within established timelines.
- Provide training to service technicians to help them improve their skills and knowledge.
- Recruit, interview and train service staff; handle performance reviews
- Create an exceptional customer experience to drive customer loyalty
- Develop and manage budgets and operating plans for the service department, monitoring performance and making adjustments as needed.
- Maintain a high level of knowledge about the latest automotive technologies and stay current on industry trends.
- Collaborate with other departments within the dealership to ensure seamless and efficient operations.
- Monitor/control all warranty activity to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
- Ensure the Service area is customer‑friendly ready with proper displays and information
- Other duties as required
- Competitive compensation package in the $150,000-$200,000 range for the successful candidate.
