Position: Financial Accountant - 6 Month FTC

Overview

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong accountant who enjoys taking ownership and meeting deadlines. Sheridan Maine is recruiting a Financial Accountant on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This pivotal role sits at the heart of the finance function. This is a key role within the finance function, focused on statutory accounts, audit, technical accounting, regulatory reporting, group consolidation, and VAT.

The role offers flexible working, including remote and hybrid options, but applicants should be based in Dorset or Hampshire to support on-site collaboration.

This opportunity is ideal for a qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with strong technical accounting experience who enjoys hands-on financial reporting, meeting deadlines, and taking ownership of key finance processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation of statutory accounts for multiple group entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Supporting the year-end audit, acting as the main point of contact for auditors.
  • Assisting with group consolidated accounts for management and statutory reporting.
  • Providing technical accounting support across the business.
  • Delivering regulatory and external financial reporting in line with statutory deadlines.
  • Preparing and supporting submission of group VAT returns and dealing with queries.
  • Supporting other regulatory, statutory, and industry reporting requirements.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in financial accounting, statutory accounts preparation, and audit support.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge.
  • Experience of group accounting and consolidations.
  • Working knowledge of VAT and indirect tax reporting.
  • Strong communication skills, with experience working with senior stakeholders and external auditors.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
