Sheridan Maine Accounting & Finance is proud to be partnering with a well‑established and growing accountancy practice in Ferndown to recruit a Senior Client Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice accountant / accounts manager to take ownership of a varied client portfolio while stepping into a leadership‑focused role. You'll play a key part in client relationship management, accounts and tax delivery, and team development within a fast‑paced and supportive environment.

As a Senior Client Manager, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients while ensuring the delivery of high‑quality accounts, tax, and advisory services. This role combines client‑facing responsibilities, technical oversight, and team leadership, making it ideal for someone looking to progress within an accountancy practice environment.

Key responsibilities
  • Managing a portfolio of clients including SMEs, contractors, and owner‑managed businesses
  • Acting as a main point of contact, delivering excellent client service and relationship management
  • Reviewing statutory accounts, management accounts, and corporation tax computations
  • Overseeing VAT returns and compliance deadlines
  • Supporting new business development, including client meetings and proposals
  • Allocating work across the team and managing workflow effectively
  • Monitoring internal KPIs and service delivery standards
  • Coaching, mentoring, and developing junior team members
Qualifications
  • AAT, ACA, or ACCA qualified (or part‑qualified with strong experience)
  • Proven experience within an accountancy practice / accounting firm
  • Strong knowledge of accounts preparation, tax, and VAT
  • Experience managing a client portfolio and building client relationships
  • Previous experience supervising or mentoring junior staff
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Strong communication skills with a professional and personable approach
