Product Manager salary: £45,000 – £60,000

Product Manager Overview:

Own product management activity across a technical product range

Hybrid role with strong commercial influence across product and supply performance

This Product Manager role is with a growing technical business in Bournemouth and will take ownership of product performance, supplier activity, stock availability and commercial product data. The Product Manager will spend the majority of their time focused on product management, while also supporting purchasing decisions, supplier negotiation, inventory planning and product range development. This Product Manager position suits someone commercially minded, analytical and confident managing technical product information, supplier relationships and stock performance.

The Product Manager role

As Product Manager, you’ll manage a technical product range from both a commercial and operational perspective. The role covers product performance, pricing, margins, availability, lifecycle status, supplier performance, compliance records and customer demand.

The Product Manager will work closely with suppliers, strategic customers and internal teams to make sure the business has the right products available at the right time, with accurate product information and strong commercial control.

Day-to-day responsibilities of a Product Manager

Manage product management and purchasing activity across the assigned product range
Source products through authorised suppliers and identify alternative supply opportunities where appropriate
Negotiate pricing, lead times, terms, availability and supplier commitments
Monitor stock levels, sales trends, customer demand and supplier availability
Track market shortages, allocation risks, obsolescence and product lifecycle status
Review and introduce product ranges that support customer demand and commercial growth
Analyse product performance, margins, pricing, stock movement and competitor activity
Manage supplier relationships, including performance reviews, service levels and issue resolution
Maintain accurate product data including descriptions, specifications, datasheets, imagery and compliance information
Support sales price list creation and wider commercial reporting
Resolve supplier, delivery, pricing, quality, documentation and compliance queries
Work with Sales, Operations, Warehouse, Finance, Quality and Marketing to keep product activity aligned
Ensure product and supplier activity supports ISO
9001 and continuous improvement requirements

What they’re looking for - Product Manager

Experience in product management, purchasing, procurement, category management or a related commercial role
Strong commercial understanding of pricing, margin, product availability and supplier performance
Experience using ERP, stock control, purchasing or product information systems
Strong Excel skills and confidence working with large sets of product or stock data
Able to analyse stock movement, sales trends, customer demand and product profitability
Understanding of lead times, minimum order quantities, supplier availability and lifecycle risk
High attention to detail when managing part numbers, supplier references, pricing and technical data
Confident communicator, able to work with technical and non-technical colleagues
Strong negotiation, supplier management and commercial decision-making skills
Organised and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment

Desirable - Product Manager

Experience with technical products, electronic components, connectivity products or similar
Awareness of obsolescence, allocation, counterfeit risk, compliance and supplier quality
CIPS qualification or similar commercial/procurement training
Experience managing product data for digital channels, catalogues or customer-facing systems
Background supporting supplier performance reviews or product range introductions
