The role & about the client:
ITS Building People are recruiting on behalf of a reputable construction firm for delivering high quality projects across the region. Operating across a range of sectors and a focus on delivering reliable, well managed builds for repeat and referral clients. With an experienced in house team, this client prides itself on a practical hands on approach, combining sound construction knowledge with strong commercial awareness.
This client is looking for an Estimator to join the team based out of Dorset.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Prepare accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for construction projects
Review drawings, specifications, schedules, and other tender documentation
Measure and take off quantities from drawings and specifications
Obtain and analyse quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
Build up rates using labour, plant, material, and subcontractor costs
Identify risks, opportunities, and value-engineering options within tenders
Ensure tenders are commercially sound, competitive, and compliant
Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers as required
Maintain and update pricing databases and cost benchmarks
Assist with budget preparation and cost planning for live projects
Provide support during tender interviews and post-tender negotiations
Handover tender information to project and site teams once projects are secured
Monitor market trends, material costs, and supply chain pricing The ideal candidate will have:
Previous experience in an Estimator role within the construction industry
Strong understanding of construction methods and materials
Confident working with drawings, schedules and specifications
Good commercial awareness and attention to detail
Strong communication and organisational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
