A well-regarded independent planning consultancy in Bournemouth is making a key appointment. The business is deliberately compact, giving its planners direct client contact and real influence over project strategy.

The position offers the chance to handle complex local projects while supporting junior planners and maintaining close client relationships. It is suited to someone who wants visible responsibility without losing the support of experienced colleagues.

You will work across residential, tourism, care, commercial, rural and appeal work across Dorset and Hampshire. Depending on seniority, you will lead or support instructions from initial appraisal to determination and beyond.

• Prepare clear planning appraisals, statements and strategic advice.
• Manage planning applications and coordinate technical inputs.
• Maintain regular, professional communication with clients and project teams.
• Negotiate constructively with local planning authorities and other stakeholders.
• Review work produced by junior colleagues and support their development.
• Contribute to fee proposals, client development and the commercial management of projects.

Mrtpi; broad development management experience; confident negotiation and report writing. You should also be organised, dependable and able to explain planning issues in straightforward language. The business is interested in people who value good advice and long-term client relationships rather than unnecessary internal politics.

The salary is £44,000–£55,000. The wider package includes flexible hours, pension, bonus, professional fees and a route to Associate. Exact arrangements will depend on experience and will be discussed openly during the process.
