Specialist Doctor, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry – CAMHS High Intensity Unit

Location:

Bournemouth, Dorset, United Kingdom

Our inpatient CAMHS is expanding to include a brand‑new purpose‑built 8‑bed High Intensity Environment/PICU opening in 2026 at Alumhurst Road, Bournemouth. We are looking for a Specialist Doctor with passion and experience in Psychiatry to join a dynamic team in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work alongside Consultant / Consultant Nurse AC in Pebble Lodge (GAU) and/or the High Intensity Environment.
  • Provide assessment and treatment planning for patients with complex presentations.
  • Engage in face‑to‑face contact, meetings with families and community staff, review records, clinical report writing, tribunal work, daily ward meetings, CPA and discharge planning meetings.
  • Deliver care planning for patients accepted by the team, under supervision of Consultants.
  • Maintain Section 12(2) status and be an Approved Clinician.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Specialist Doctor in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
  • Experience working in inpatient or high‑intensity environments.
  • Proficiency in assessment, treatment planning, documentation and multidisciplinary teamwork.
  • Current registration with the GMC and relevant specialist bodies.
