Position: Nursery Practitioner / SEN Practitioner

Located close to Alum Chine beach, Blue Penguin is a small independent Montessori school. We offer a homely environment to allow children to become independent and achieve their full potential.

Our accommodation includes a bright and spacious classroom and safe kitchen area for the children to cook. We have an attractive garden where the children enjoy daily outdoor activities, including imaginative play in a well‑equipped wooden house, sandpit, water play and gardening.

In addition, the children have the benefit of supervised walks down to Alum Chine.

Nursury Practitioner

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Years Educator to join our team. As an Early Years Educator, you will be responsible for providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children to learn and grow. You will play a key role in promoting their social, emotional and cognitive development.

Requirements
  • Minimum of a level 3 qualification
  • Proven experience working with young children in an educational setting
  • Strong knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with young children
Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement age‑appropriate activities and curriculum to support children's learning and development
  • Create a safe and inclusive environment where children can explore, play and interact with their peers
  • Observe and assess children's progress, identifying areas for improvement or additional support
  • Collaborate with parents and guardians to ensure open communication and involvement in their child's education
  • Maintain accurate records of children's attendance, progress and any incidents or concerns
  • Foster positive relationships with children, parents, colleagues and other professionals
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines to ensure the well-being of the children in your care
SEN Practitioner

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN 1:1 to provide tailored support to a child with special educational needs. The successful candidate will work closely with the child to foster their learning and development in a nurturing environment. This role requires a strong understanding of Down syndrome and experience in special education, as well as excellent communication skills to effectively engage with the child and collaborate with educators.

Requirements
  • Experience working with children with SEN.
  • Background in special education or related fields is highly desirable.
  • Strong teaching skills, with an ability to adapt lessons to meet individual learning styles.
  • Familiarity with toddler care practices is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with children and collaborate with staff members.
  • A patient, empathetic approach towards working with individuals who have special educational needs. This position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on a child's life through dedicated support and encouragement in their educational journey.
Responsibilities
  • Provide one‑on‑one support to a child with additional needs, ensuring their individual needs are met throughout their nursery hours.
  • Assist in implementing personalised learning plans and strategies to promote academic and social development.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages the child's participation and engagement in the nursery activities..
  • Support the child during various activities, including playtime, group work and transitions between tasks.
  • Maintain clear communication with parents or guardians regarding the child's progress and any concerns that may arise.
  • Promote independence by encouraging the child to develop self‑help skills appropriate for their age.
