Do you have the resilience, patience, and passion to support children with behavioural needs?
We are looking for a committed and compassionate Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in Bournemouth from September.
About the Role:
This role is ideal for someone who is calm under pressure and passionate about helping children who struggle with emotional regulation and challenging behaviours. You will work closely with the SENCo and pastoral team to support students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, helping them to access learning, manage their emotions, and build positive relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide targeted support to students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
Build trusting relationships to help students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.
De-escalate challenging behaviour and implement individual behaviour plans.
Promote emotional regulation strategies and model positive behaviour.
Work closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure consistency of approach.
Support reintegration into lessons or structured learning where appropriate.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour or SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs is highly desirable.
A calm, consistent, and empathetic approach to behaviour management.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work well within a team and independently.
Relevant training or qualifications (Team Teach, MAPA, or similar) are an advantage but not essential.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
