SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: Bournemouth, Dorset
Start Date: Immediate / Flexible
The RoleAs a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting classroom teachers in providing the best support possible to students aged 16-25 years old with primary diagnoses such as:
- High functioning Autism
- Mental health difficulties (SEMH)
- Complex needs
- Has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
- Purpose-built classrooms and therapy spaces
- Independent living facilities to develop life skills
- Outdoor areas for recreation and sensory activities
- Individualised learning programmes focusing on functional skills, vocational training, and independence
- Emphasis on communication, social skills, and preparation for adulthood
- Speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and behavioural support integrated into daily routines
- SEN / Autism based experience in or out of an educational setting
- Mental health experience in or out of an educational setting
- Understanding of challenging behaviours
- Understanding of positive behaviour support strategies
- Able to de-escalate challenging situations calmly and safely
- Full time
- Monday - Friday

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
