Cover Supervisor Job Details

  • Working hours:

    15.25 hours per week (Monday to Friday – 10am‑3.15pm two days per week and 1pm‑3.15pm on three days per week)
  • Weeks per year:
    School term‑times, Trust Training Days and INSET days
  • Grade:
    Grade 7
  • Salary range (per annum): £26,824 to £29,540 (FTE) or £9,511 to £10,473 (pro rata) – support staff pay scale points 8‑14, with a pay award pending

About the Post

We are looking to appoint a Cover Supervisor to join our Infant school.

Stourfield Infant School is a two/ three form entry infant school with children from Year R to Year 2. At Stourfield Infant School, the children always come first. Everything we do in school is to help the children feel safe, happy, motivated and confident in their learning and relationships. We believe that children thrive in a caring and intellectually stimulating environment with plenty of praise and encouragement.

Responsibilities
  • Confidently cover classes in EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2
  • Work with our happy, enthusiastic, well‑motivated pupils to support their progress, development and well‑being.
  • Facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides pupils with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
  • Become part of our hardworking, committed and friendly staff team
  • Develop skills through personalised and whole‑school CPD
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding and Child Protection policies.

Who we are looking for

We would love to hear from you if you:

  • Have recent successful experience as a Teaching Assistant or similar position within an educational environment.
  • Have a minimum of 3 GCSEs A‑C (9‑4), including Maths and English, or equivalent.
  • Know and can consistently apply a range of school policies, particularly those regarding health and safety, equal opportunities, behaviour management, child protection and special educational needs (SEN).
  • Have the necessary skills to manage safely, the classroom activities, the physical learning space and the resources for which you are responsible for.
  • Understand and have the ability to use a range of strategies to deal with general classroom behaviour and individual behavioural needs.
  • Take personal responsibility for your own professional development.
  • Are flexible and able to use your initiative.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
