Position: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Administrator at St Peter's School

About the role

The School seeks to appoint an outstanding Special Educational Needs (SEN) Administrator to join a supportive and committed team. The role is fixed‑term from 1.9.2026 to 31.8.2027, term time (39 weeks), 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am–3.00pm, less a 30‑minute unpaid break each working day. Grade E, scale point 9 – £18,901 annual salary, pay award pending.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Senior Leader for Inclusion, Special Needs Co‑ordinator (SENCo) and teaching assistants.
  • Act as first point of contact for staff, parents and students, liaising with local authorities and other outside agencies.
  • Manage all administrative duties for the SEN department, including secretarial support to the Senior Leader for Inclusion and SENCo.
  • Ensure statutory processes are adhered to, including scheduling Person‑Centred Reviews for students with an Education, Health and Care Plan.
  • Communicate with local education authorities and other outside agencies.
  • Communicate with parents and carers.
  • Maintain and file all SEN communication.
  • Organise, attend and document all Person‑Centred Reviews (PCR).
  • Act as PCR chaser to ensure all aspects of the action plan are fulfilled.
  • Schedule meetings and visits with parents of students with SEN.
  • Liaise with feeder schools regarding the special educational needs of year‑6 students transferring each September.
  • Ensure all EHCP paperwork is sent within the expected timeframe.
  • Commute between the Primary and Secondary sites to take minutes at the EHCP Annual Reviews.
  • Arrange all meetings with SENCo.
  • Arrange EHCP Annual Reviews with the local authorities (BCP and Dorset); currently 47 with 2 more pending.
  • Contact parents/carers to inform them when services such as HSS and VSS are in school.
  • Print and send out reports from HSS and VSS to parents/carers.
  • Answer the SEN telephone call (only one dedicated line).
  • Administrative support for Specialist Literacy Teacher, Specialist Literacy TA and EAL/Key Skills TA.
  • Print and circulate TA briefing minutes for TAs.
  • Undertake induction for new TA starters.
  • In the absence of SENCo, redeploy TAs due to staff or student illness.
  • Speak with parents or outside agencies.
  • Deal with student crisis as they occur.
  • Check whether Nurture has availability and source work for these students.
  • Arrange venues for HSS, VSS, E.P.s and SAL therapists to see students.
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, security and confidentiality, reporting concerns to an appropriate person.
  • Contribute to the overall ethos, work and mission statement of the school.
  • Undertake broadly similar duties commensurate with the level of the post as required by the Head teacher.
Qualifications and Requirements

This role requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check in line with government safer recruitment guidelines. The successful candidate must have right to work in the UK. The salary quoted is the annual salary for the position at the time of advert and will be paid in equal monthly instalments, adjusted if the appointment starts part‑way through the school year.
