About the role
Grade C, Scale Point 4 – £15,719 annual salary, pay award pending.
Term Time only (39 weeks), 27 hours per week Monday to Friday inclusive – 8.15am to 2.09pm, less a 30‑minute unpaid break each working day.
The School seeks to appoint an outstanding Teaching Assistant – Primary wanting to join a supportive and committed team who are passionate about teaching and learning.
Key responsibilitiesReporting directly to the Class Teacher and through them to the Head of Primary, you will support children and teachers in ensuring that the above objectives are met.
Duties include- Working with the teacher to deliver the Foundation Stage or KS1 curriculum.
- Working with groups of children including one‑to‑one, under the direction of the teacher, to deliver the curriculum in an exciting, stimulating and rigorous way.
- Taking responsibility for focus groups during activity sessions.
- Leading a guided reading/writing group.
- Making observations to assist with planning.
- Delivering an indoor and outdoor curriculum.
- Helping with changing for P.E. activities.
- Assisting a child with matters of hygiene.
- Assisting a child who may be unwell.
- Taking responsibility for a class in the absence of the teacher, for short periods of time.
- Plan and discuss daily curriculum plans with the teacher.
- Use own initiative to ensure the classroom environment runs smoothly and efficiently.
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding children in your care.
- Supervise lunchtime routines and ensure lunchtimes are a happy learning experience.
- Attend parent consultation meetings alongside the class teacher, claims additional payment for attending.
- Participate in the School’s Performance Management cycle, including attendance on INSET days.
- Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, security and confidentiality, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
- Contribute to overall ethos, work and mission statement of the school.
- Undertake broadly similar duties commensurate with the level of the post as required by the Head teacher.
Annual salary £15,719 (calculated pro‑rata based on 27 hours per week and 39 weeks).
Qualifications and requirementsDisclosure and Barring Service check in line with Government safer recruitment guidelines. Right to work in the UK must be established at the time of appointment.
