Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEMH)

Overview

SEN Teaching Assistant (SEMH) – Prospero Teaching is working with a specialist Independent SEN School in Poole to recruit dedicated Teaching Assistants who will support pupils with SEN, including ASc & SEMH.

Responsibilities
  • Provide support to pupils with SEN, encouraging and building trusting relationships.
  • Use calming mannerisms in challenging situations and strong behaviour management skills while creating a fun learning environment.
  • Motivate pupils to increase participation and personal development.
  • Demonstrate caring, patient, and good communication skills.
  • Be self‑reflective, willing to learn, and demonstrate initiative.
Requirements
  • Minimum rate of pay from £17,500 per annum.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or willingness to process a new application.
  • Provide two professional child‑related references.
  • Experience supporting an individual with Autism.
  • Experience with autistic children and those with social communication difficulties is an advantage.
  • Previous experience working with young people is desirable.
  • Ability to communicate in a manner that encourages and supports pupils, enabling the building of trusting relationships.
  • Willingness to complete safeguarding online training.
  • Willingness to complete face‑to‑face training over video call.
